Jericho Distillery was founded in 1822 by William Smith, a devout farmer and brother of a missionary from the nearby Aon parish. Production commenced swiftly, and by November 1824, advertisements for 'Whiskey from Jericho Distillery' were published in Aberdeen. The whiskey was exclusively available at Weir Store, Milne, located at 39 Broad Street.
