Barkley is a distinguished Scottish blended whisky founded in 1887 by James Barkley, a visionary young entrepreneur from Glasgow. During Scotland's industrial boom, Barkley recognized the growing demand for premium whisky in emerging markets across Asia and the Americas. He meticulously crafted a signature blend combining 40% smooth Speyside malts (aged 8-12 years), 35% robust Highland whiskies, and 25% refined Lowland grain spirits, creating an accessible yet sophisticated profile. Barkley's flavor signature features heather honey, Madagascar vanilla bean, candied Seville orange peel, and a whisper of Islay smoke. The brand vanished during Prohibition but was meticulously revived in 2015 by master blender Margaret Stewart using Barkley's original 19th-century blending journals. Bottled at 43% ABV, non-chill filtered, Barkley bridges Victorian whisky craftsmanship with contemporary tastes, winning gold at the 2022 International Whisky Competition.
