St George's is the home of The English Whisky Co. The beautiful distillery was designed and built by the Nelstrop family with the specific purpose of producing the finest English single malt whisky. Why choose England, and more specifically Roudham, Norfolk? Well, there are only two main ingredients in whisky: barley and water, and we have both. We draw the purest, cleanest water from the Breckland aquifer beneath the distillery. Norfolk is one of the world's premier barley-growing regions, ensuring our supply is both abundant and local.
Timeline
After retiring at 60, James Nelstrop, together with his family and friends, planned to research whisky production and obtained a license the following year.
In December this year, the distillery produced its first batch of 29 barrels of whisky
In August this year, the distillery opened its Visitor Centre and Whisky Shop to the public
