Hopworks Urban Brewery was founded in 2007 by master brewer Christian Ettinger. His passion for brewing began during his first college summer vacation, experimenting in his parents' kitchen, which quickly led to his decision to open his own brewpub. Christian's professional career started at Eugene City Brewery, a legendary Oregon institution where many of the state's greatest brewers have launched their careers. He completed an intensive brewing science and engineering program through the Master Brewers Association of the Americas, and earned the prestigious World Beer Cup Champion Brewer award while serving as brewmaster at Portland's Laurelwood Pub & Brewery. Today, Hopworks is recognized as a leader in sustainable brewing, certified as a B-Corporation, and celebrated for its innovative organic beers and environmental stewardship.
